Curly Is Cuter!
I noticed a few other blogs who were introducing their sponsors and I really didn’t want mine to feel left out so here’s the first post I write on this subject!
Curly is Cuter is an online beading store that really and truly out do themselves. The company is more than just a beading store, they also sell weave thread for Ghana plaits, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizers, gels, barrettes, rubber bands, pony-os, combs, brushes, tangle teezers, satin pillow cases, durags and SO much more! And the best part is that they sell many of the products mentioned above in several different colors!
I love the products and the lady there is super nice! Go here to check them out today!

How to detangle natural hair
P.S. I know it looks like I'm really yanking through her hair with the comb at the end, but I was being gentle and her hair was pretty much already tangle-free!
Remember, I washed, conditioned, and detanlged her hair prior to this video! And for those of you who may be wondering, here is what her hair looked liked like before braiding:

Braid Out
I finally washed, conditioned, and detangled Bunny's hair last night! YAY! Her hair feels SOO much better now that the tangles are out and water's been added to it!
Here's what I did:
Removed all beads and rubber bands from her hair and put it into six loose braids, making sure that there was enough room at the roots for her slide her fingers under them so she could scrub her scalp.
After that, she co-washed her hair all by herself with VO5 conditioner.
Lastly, I begin styling, taking one braid out a time, detangling it, then changing each chubby braid into two or three smaller braids. Starting at her roots, I added Beautiful Curls Shea Butter Curl Activating Cream for a leave-in.
What I used
Overall, I am very displeased with how her hair turned out. The problem was that her braids did not dry over night and her hair was still quite damp when we had to leave the house. Bunny really wanted to take the braids out so I did but I wish I'd waited until they'd dried.
The braid out is pretty fuzzy so I had to smooth the top half back with my hands and use bobby pins to clip it back, then added a flower. Her hair smells good and is detangled still. I will probably detangle it again later tonight and put it into cornrows.

Twist out
Just wanna let everyone know that we are preparing for something really big. I've been planning this for a couple months actually and it's so grand that several other blogs are doing it too!
Here's a quick video on how I put a little life into that style one last time! Even though her hair doesn’t look nearly as nice as I would like it to, she still got lots of compliments on her hair and she’s happy so I’m not too worried about that.
And for those of you who are wondering, here's what I'll do in more detail:
I'll begin by carefully removing all the rubber bands and beads from her hair. It's easiest to cut the rubber bands so that's what I do.
After that I'll do ahead and put her hair into six braids, three on each. Her hair is quite matted so trying to detangle it would be impossible until it's wet.
She'll hope in the shower and wash her hair with Naked Moisture Whip Shampoo, focusing on her scalp. Once she gets out of the shower, I use VO5 conditioner to detangle her hair. Take one braid out at a time, covering it with conditioner, then using a wide tooth comb and my fingers to get any tangles out
Once I’m finished with that, I’ll rinse most of the conditioner out, add a moisturizer, and either band, braid, or twist her hair to stretch it out.
And I’ll finish by styling.
That’s it!

Maintaining a twist out
Maintaining a twist out is actually quite simple. If you recall from the post the day before, Bunny is currently wearing her hair in side cornrows and a twist out on the side.
The back - much less definition than I would have liked due to fact she accidently slept with loose hair
I've recently started using the Beautiful Curls line (their shampoo, deep conditioner, hair gel, leave-in conditioner, curl activating, oil, and curl refresher) because I'm doing product reviews for the company. I used the curl refresher, which claims to do exactly that.
The product I used
Full review coming soon!
I pull all her hair up into a high bun for bed time (this way her curls aren't crushed) and she'll sleep on her satin pillow case. However, on this particular night, her hair ended up coming un-bunned, which resulted in a curly rats nest when she woke up. Yikes!
There is no way that I could get her hair to last until the weekend so I'll be braiding it either tomorrow or the day after. I will definitely be re-twisting the top layer of hair to stretch what little definition she has left.
Bunny still loves it so I'm not too worried about it.

Hair Styles For Natural Curly Hair
When I first started on Bunny's hair, I thought the finished product would be a cornrow/braided headband design in the front with twists in the back. Sounds cool, right? Well, that never happened.
Bunny's before hair style was side cornrows going to two strand twists. I took all the twists out and she wanted to see what her hair looked like. She ended up falling in love with the style so, yeah, this is her style for the week!
The cornrows are quite fuzzy but her hair is clean and she's happy and that's good enough :)
Welcome!
This pic was taken a LONG time ago when I still wore braces and Bunny actually had short hair, but that’s my younger sister and I
Welcome everyone!
I’m Dominique-Alexis and I’ve been braiding for about three years now, which I know isn’t actually that long. I’ve learned SOOO much about natural hair through trial and error with both my younger sister and my hair.
My younger sister’s nickname is Bunny and she’s nine years old. I’ve been braiding her hair for a while now. I started doing it to help my mom out, then I discovered that I absolutely loved it! Over the years, I’ve been growing it out and I don’t know how to explain it but I don’t like anyone to style her hair but me. They can touch, yes, but I really don’t like other people styling her hair. Which is okay, because no one else in the family actually likes braiding.
Anyway, I’m all over the place. This blog is an extension of my website: Natural-hair-care-info.com. I started my website when I was fifteen and I love doing that, but because it’s a site and not a blog, there are a lot of “rules” that Google made me follow. (Pages had to be four hundred words, you had to link back to five pages at least, you had to use the main keyword a certain number of times.) And I really wanted a place where I could be myself.
My website is pretty much straight up information, hair styles, and tips while this blog will be one-on-one, how we wore our hair day-to-day, and get into the personal aspect of having natural hair. I am not too sure how well I can juggle school (thee most important thing), a website, a blog, my other sports/hobbies, and getting the most out of the rest of my teen years, but I love challenges and I know I have lots of support from my family and friends.
Please comment and follow!
Thanks everyone!
