QOTD - How do you respond to rude comments about your hair?

Hey guys!

Sorry I haven't been posting on this blog very much anymore. School and the website have been taking up most of the day.

Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post on something that happened today.

So, I had a flute recital today and I wore my hair all out and crazy. It was super big because I stretched it twice then brushed it out. It was like a cloud and very fluffy and I thought it looked pretty cute.

Anyway, so my friends and I were all back stage when Yudari goes, "Girl, you have so much hair!"

Then Darshell says, "I love your hair. It's so pretty!"

I was so excited about the night and the fact that everyone loved my hair was not helping my humility, then I notice that my non-friend keeps giving me this looks every few seconds.

And if that wasn't enough, she had the nerve to ask me, "Did you get caught in the rain?".

So I have a question. How do you response to rude comments about your natural hair?

Oh wowzers! What did you say?!! My hair is long (right now) and when I have it long is when I get the rude comments. Such as, "Ugh, I could never have my hair that long... All that hair? Yuck! That would get on my nerves... Ooooh, I'm soooo glad I don't have to deal with all of THAT on a daily basis... Better you than me!" and so on. Sorry to say I've had no clever come-backs. I usually just shut down the conversation and move on to someone who has something positive to bring to my world, lol. I've had my hair short, long and everywhere in-between. When it is long, its because I DO feel like dealing with it, obviously so idk why someone would even say that...

that was very ignorant, but simply kill them with kindness. Laugh at what she said simply because she doesn't know any better and walk away. You dont have to do or say anything. That would make anyone feel stupid!!! LOL
Thats what I would do!!

@GDL - I just ignored her but we have band practice together and she ALWAYS stares at my hair the whole time :/ And btw I love your hair, especially when it was in twists!

@DOAHP - LOL I definitively try using kindness next time. Fingers crossed that it works!

Lately it's been my mother who's been telling me things like "your hair would be prettier on you if you'd lose some weight". I have told my mother to not be mean. The teacher in me doesn't tolerate meanness. I suggest that you point out meanness when it happens and embarrass them with the truth. Then ignore them in the future. Your beautiful and be proud of your hair.

That's a shame! I would probably flick my hair and say, "Nope!" with an attitude! Lol. Like anonymous said, haters gon' hate, so don't let them get to you. After all, you're the one with the healthy hair!

@JenJen - I definitively see what you're saying. I believe that no one has the right to make anyone feel less than their best, however, if I get into a fight with this girl I'm blaming you lol jk. Thank you and thanks for commenting!
